Frequently asked
I already use a to-do app. When would Baton help?
Baton helps when switching tasks means hunting for the right document or browser tab again. Link “Review PR” to its Chrome tab, for example, and return to that tab directly from the task after working on something else. Your task and the place where you work stay together.
Which apps and work surfaces can I link?
You can link Mac app windows, individual Chrome tabs, and tmux terminal panes. Connect writing or design tasks to an app window, and research or reviews to a Chrome tab. Baton requires macOS 14 or later.
Do I need to enter my work time manually?
Time starts recording when you mark a task in progress and stops when you pause or complete it. There is no separate timer to start. Review task totals and your daily timeline to see where your time went.
Should I choose monthly or lifetime?
Both include the same features and number of Macs. Monthly gives you access and updates while subscribed. Lifetime is a single payment for continued use, including future updates. Use the free trial to see how Baton fits your work before choosing.
Will I be charged when the free trial ends?
No. Your 14-day trial begins when you first open the app and includes all features without a payment card. It does not turn into a paid subscription automatically. Purchase a license yourself if you want to keep using Baton.
How do I activate Baton after buying it?
Enter the license key issued after checkout in the app’s license screen. You can find the key again in the Polar customer portal by signing in with your purchase email. Tasks and records from your trial stay in place.
Will canceling monthly delete my work history?
Your records are kept. You can use Baton through the period you already paid for, then continue viewing existing records. Adding or editing tasks and returning to linked work requires a valid license. Activate a license again to continue with the same records.
Can I use Baton on my work and personal Macs?
One license supports up to 5 Macs. Tasks and time records are stored on each Mac; automatic syncing between Macs is not currently supported. When replacing a Mac, deactivate it in Settings → License, then register your key on the new Mac.
